Summary:
In recent years, the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Triple Nexus has emerged as a critical framework in global crisis response and sustainable development. Despite the growing body of literature on this topic, a significant gap remains in understanding its practical implementation and operationalization.
This paper aims to address this gap by providing a comprehensive stocktaking of nexus programming in ongoing and post-crisis environments, sharing practical experiences from World Vision’s Global Affairs Canada-funded nexus education project in Northern Ethiopia, evaluating what works, what doesn’t, and suggesting what needs to be reconsidered or changed.
The authors focus on:
- Documenting practical experiences
- Assessing effectiveness and challenges
- Innovative practices and lessons learned
- Recommendations for improvement
- Future directions
By presenting a comprehensive analysis of the nexus in practice, the paper contributes to the discourse on effectively operationalizing the nexus, transforming it from a promising concept into a practical and impactful approach for addressing the multifaceted challenges of crisis response.
