Senegal

When one million Senegalese people were impacted by severe drought, World Vision responded with emergency food kits to protect children and families from malnutrition. Longer term, we help farmers access drought-resistant seeds and develop cereal banks for grain storage. Cereal banks protect the harvest from damage by fire or pests and allow communities to set aside food for the lean season.

World Vision Senegal

For 30 years, World Vision has worked with the poorest communities in Senegal. Today, World Vision Senegal has 200 staff working in the regions of Fatick, Diourbel, Kaffrine, Tambacounda, Kédougou and Kolda with 24 long-term development programs.

Our current programs focus on health and nutrition, working to see children under five and women of childbearing age able to access healthcare and appropriate nutrition. We work in education and life skills, so that children in Senegal will have the opportunity to receive a quality education that will prepare them for the opportunities and challenges of the future. In the areas of child protection and participation, we want all children to know they are loved by God and their neighbors and to be cared for, protected and participating in the decisions that affect them and their lives. In our livelihoods and resilience programs, we're working to see families equipped with resources and abilities to provide for their children.
